At Hockerty, we make custom suits, shirts, and trousers to your exact body measurements. Our customers order from over 50 countries, and accurate measurement conversion is the foundation of a perfect fit. We built this tool because generic converters round to arbitrary decimal places — but tailoring requires precision to the nearest quarter inch. Every conversion here uses the same 0.25" rounding our pattern makers rely on daily.
Whether you are converting your European measurements for an American size chart or preparing your numbers for a custom order, this tool gives you tailor-grade accuracy — not calculator-grade approximations.
How many cm are in an inch?
One inch equals exactly 2.54 centimeters. To convert cm to inches, divide by 2.54. To convert inches to cm, multiply by 2.54.
Why does this converter round to 0.25 inches?
Professional tailors and clothing manufacturers work in quarter-inch increments (0.25") because tape measures are marked in quarters and eighths. Rounding to arbitrary decimals like 39.3701" is mathematically precise but useless for actual garment construction. Our converter gives you the number a tailor would actually use.
What suit size am I if my chest is 100 cm?
100 cm converts to approximately 39.25 inches, which puts you between a US/UK 38 and 40. In standard sizing, you would likely wear a 40. However, standard sizes assume average proportions — if your waist, shoulders, or arms differ from the chart, a custom-made suit will fit significantly better.
How do I convert my body measurements for ordering clothes online?
Use the Body Measurements tab above to convert all your key measurements at once: chest, waist, hips, shoulders, sleeve length, inseam, neck, and bicep. The tool converts each value and shows you the corresponding suit or trouser size where applicable.
What is the difference between EU and US suit sizes?
European (EU) suit sizes are typically 10 higher than US/UK sizes. A US 40 is an EU 50. US and UK sizes use the same numbering for suits. You can use the "Find Your Suit Size" tab to see your size in all three systems instantly.
Is it better to measure in cm or inches for custom clothing?
Measure in whichever unit your tape measure shows most clearly. Centimeters offer finer granularity (1 cm increments vs 0.25" increments), but either system works perfectly for custom clothing. The key is consistency — take all measurements in the same unit and convert once.
Can I skip measuring myself entirely?
Yes. Hockerty's Digital Body Profile technology captures your measurements from a simple photo. No tape measure needed, no conversion needed. It is the fastest and most accurate way to get your measurements for a custom suit, shirt, or trousers.
